HOORAY! For Phil*adel*phia Anniversary Party:

On October 30, 2009 at 30th Street Station, Rena Rowan Damone, Vic Damone and the Rena Rowan Foundation for the Homeless will host the HOORAY! For Phil*adel*phia Gala. Proceeds from this fundraiser event will be directed through the Foundation to their charitable interests.
Rowan House, the first project supported by the Rena Rowan Foundation for the Homeless, was opened on September 30, 1997. This 26 unit transitional housing program, operated by People's Emergency Center, serves homeless women and their children in a 24-hour supportive services environment. Rowan House promotes independence and self-sufficiency by offering intensive case management; child care, health care and counseling; parenting education; out-of-school time programs; GED and job training programs; job placement; and assistance in obtaining permanent housing.
Other charitable interests of the Foundation have included The Rena Rowan Breast Center at the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania is a comforting, state-of-the art facility for the treatment and care of women who are diagnosed with breast cancer, opened in 2000; and Rowan Homes, which was developed by Project H.O.M.E. and was dedicated on September 18, 2000. It offers 40 homes with supportive services for homeless families suffering from mental illness or drug addiction.
Past Honorary Chairpersons included Governor Edward G. Rendell, Mrs. Betty Ford, Steven Spielberg, Ralph Lauren and Governor Tom Ridge. Past Chairpersons included Rena Rowan Damone and Vic Damone, Dr. John Glick and Jane Glick, Dr. Amy Gutmann, Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme, and Patti LaBelle. Past New York chairs were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Lauder and Dr. Judith Rodin.
